Drone Demonstration @ Scott Ag

We had the opportunity to have a demonstration of our drone Thursday, September 19th for a group from Farm Bureau.  We had a great time showing the advantages of this new technology and answering questions.  Thanks again for having us.

Growing Degree Units (GDU)

We are currently 212 GDUs behind average, but surprisingly we are only 62 off of last year’s pace.  If an average day is figured we are almost 10 days behind the normal.  These figures were pulled off of Pioneer.com.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Soybean Aphids

There have been some reports of aphid levels reaching threshold in central Iowa.  I have seen a few fields with a fair amount of aphids but nothing that is “blowing up”.  Usually at this point in the season we are far enough along that we don’t need to worry about this pest anymore, but with the cool conditions we need to continue to scout.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Continue to Scout for NCLB

Just in the last couple of days Northern Corn Leaf Blight has really flared up.  Please continue to scout untreated fields as well as fields that may have been treated very early.  As always, please give me call with any questions or concerns.

Drone Pictures

A neighboring Pioneer rep brought his drone to my place to demonstrate the ability of the drone to take pictures of the crop.  The camera took amazing pictures and video.  I thought I would share a few pictures with you.  One thing that is very apparent is how much variation there is in the crop when it looks flawless from the road.

2014 Jasper County Parade

Runner Seed participated in the 2014 Jasper County Fair Parade.  We had a great time and enjoyed seeing everyone.  It was a warm night but the kids did a great job walking the route handing out candy.  We will be back next year!
